Do any of u have decent recipes that are like 5 ingredients (not including spices) and take 45 mins or less to prepare i gotta stop eating sandwiches for dinner

yeah hang on

ignore the title of this google doc because it’s a long story but it’s a really solid recipe for southwest chicken alfredo

this is a vegetarian potato curry recipe that’s about 75% spices; once you get the potatoes in there you can really do whatever you want with it

this is literally just pasta, broccoli, and cheese babey and you can live off that shit for DAYS it makes such a big portion

bro this spinach/pesto/3 cheese flatbread is so fucking tasty bro

also you can make the flatbread yourself it’s super quick!!

oh hey I’m eating this white chickpea chili right now, much like the curry it’s mostly spices and you can do p much do whatever you want with it

don’t let the name fool you these potatoes are delicious any time. not just breakfast.

this is slightly more than five ingredient when you add them together but if you have time and really wanna fuckin treat yourself I recommend these chicken strips + this cornbread + either these potatoes or these buttered veggies on the side.

HI LET’S SHARE NICOLE’S WORDS ON THE SUBJECT!

It has been literal years but every time I see Martin’s tweets posted somewhere and his word is shared as truth while her post is not shared it sort of reiterates the fact that we trust men to speak about feminism more than we believe women who experience it.

Interesting, innit? https://medium.com/@nickyknacks/working-while-female-59a5de3ad266

Reading her account of how their boss treated her blows me away. Men are so emboldened that they will literally admit to illegal discrimination casually and face no consequences.

In all the years of seeing this post I’ve never seen a link to her side. Didn’t even know she’d written one.

Adding screenshots of her post. His whole post is there without needing a link. Hers should be, too.

Also, she posted this is 2017! It’s fucking 2020 and I’ve seen his side of this for years, but it took 3 years for her side to make its way to my dash…

I’ve reblogged his story at least twice; it’s time for Nicole’s.

I got so angry while reading her side of it

good for her tho like Nicole you icon <3

israel has been bombing residential towers, refugee camps, media offices and now there are reports that it plans to bomb two UN run schools in palestine. reminder that many ppl who have been rendered homeless by these bombings have found shelter in these schools. palestine’s hospitals are overflowing, their top doctors are being killed in these bombings, and the pandemic is still raging while israel is blocking humanitarian aid as well. these are war crimes. this is a genocide.

PLEASE do not stop talking about Palestine and spreading information, especially from Palestinians, whether it’s here or on other social medias you use more often. Palestinians themselves have said over and over again that spreading this on social media helps, I’ve seen some people say that it feels different this time now that the world is starting to hear their voices. and please donate if you are able to

This is still ongoing. The link above is from May 2021, this article is from July 8th 2021, in which the Israeli government continues to demolish Palestinian property on the basis of suspected terrorist activity - even when the suspect doesn’t live there.

i am not joking we need to force teach cooking in schools. like. it is an essential thing for survival. do you know how easy it is to make things if you know even the bare bones shit about how cooking works. we need to teach teenagers how far you can take an onion and some other veggies it’’s sad that people grow up not knowing how to prepare literally anything. and i’m not talking about oh this home ed class taught me how to make chicken nuggets at home i’m talking about learning the balancing of sweetness and acidity and saltiness and bitterness and shit like that and techniques and oil temperatures and how meats cook. it needs to be taught because it’s literally not even that difficult and it matters so much

i truly believe that knowing how to cook is a basic survival concept and the fact that so many people can’t even make simple dishes is depressing as hell this is the sorta thing that should be taught at a young age. being able to take the ingredients you have around your home and turn them into a meal is like, essential and will make life so much better. you don’t need to be a high end chef you just need to understand some things that can be easily taught… but then again maybe the education system is playing a roll against this and ultimately they want you to grow up to rely on mcdonalds for dinner. i don’t know. please learn how to cook for yourself if you’re able. i’m not asking you to hunt for specific ingredients to make some expensive youtuber’s “best” recipe but if you know the basics of cooking you can do a lot with cheap canned ingredients. cooking can be affordable i promise you just need to learn how to make do with what you can get

Can anyone point me towards resources that teach those basics cus I would LOVE to teach my child this stuff but i dont know how to cook

not comprehensive but heres some:

internet shaquille’s basics but especially:

food safety + a recipe to demonstrate

how to learn to cook (just a list of subtopics, no actual tips)

basics with babish s1 & 2, but particularly:

  • freezer meals,
  • weeknight meals,
  • kitchen tools (although the specific suggestions are pretty expensive even with the lower end scale items the basic categories are solid, and you can evaluate what items you will realistcially need - eg. if you dont need to read temp for steaks etc the temp reader will not be relevant) &
  • kitchen care (mid-high advanced home cooking)

basic knife skills

picking the right pan for each recipe

j. kenji lopez-alt’s tips and tricks playlist

egg recipes

a little more complicated, involved, and longer than any of the rest of these but good breakdown of flavor & how and why to use the basic seasoning/flavor profiles

and then recipe channels representing various cuisines:

again definitely not a comprehensive list but it touches on most of the basics

What’s happening to autistic people right now?

(Trigger warning for abuse, electroshock therapy, torture, and ableism.)

The US court has overturned the ban on shock devices being used against disabled students, predominantly autistic students in the US.

The shock device being legalized is called the graduated electronic decelerator (or GED). This is a torture device that is used to ‘correct’ autistic behaviors / symptoms. Autistic people are shocked for stimming, and for having meltdowns, ect. This device was made popular by a behavioral center (the Judge Rosenberg Center, specifically) that is infamous for its abuse and torture of autistic / disabled patients.

image

(Image ID: someone is holding their arm out and resting it on a table, with their sleeve rolled up. Attached to their arm are wires, which connect to a small cube device.)

This is what the device looks like. It sends electric shocks into the victim’s skin; the victim often being restrained and held against their will. This is torture. GEDs have been reported to cause intense psychological trauma, PTSD, and physical injuries.

In March of 2020, the FDA ruled for GEDs to be banned. (Although, of course, they were still illegally used at a number of places.) This ruling has recently been appealed, and today, the US court of appeals has re-regulated the law to stop the use of GED. Sounds great, right? It would be!

… If not for a huge loophole in the wording, which basically allows this torture to continue. This device is going to have continued use on autistic students in order to “correct their behavior.”

“So…. What can I do??”

Great question! You can:

  • Listen to and boost autistic voices to spread awareness
  • As-of now (July 7th), autistic activists are trying to get #StopTheShock trending on Twitter, so Tweet out the hashtag if you have Twitter
  • If you’re in the US, email / call your legislators
  • Sign this petition if you’re in the US
  • Follow this case and look out for updates
  • If Autism Speaks (known ableist hategroup) says anything about this, DO NOT BOOST IT

That’s all! Thank you. Reblogs are very appreciated!!

I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.

Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.

Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.

Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.

They were CHILDREN.

They were murdered in cold blood.

Though the jokes that “since gay pride month is over, july is now gay wrath month” are funny and all, it’s important to remember that July is ACTUALLY Disability Pride Month and ya’ll should really be focused on boosting disabled voices and issues this month! For instance, the fact that marriage equality doesn’t actually truly exist in the United States for disabled people, or the fact that disabled people are forced to live in poverty or lose their disability benefits, or the fact that 1 in 5 people with chronic pain end up sufferring from alcoholism or other addictions, or how accessibility is still a daily battle for all of us, or how there are active hate groups on places like reddit who try to “call out” those they see as “faking” their disabilities.

This July, boost disabled voices. Talk about the issues that our community faces. Call out ableism.

Updates on Palestine: June 27th 2021

A timeline of Nizar Banat’s murder and protests

About Beita

About Sheikh Jarrah

About Silwan

Not only are the people of Beita, Silwan, Sheikh Jarrah, Gaza and so on being made homeless, they’re made homeless in a place where they can’t build homes elsewhere and are being systemically repressed, starved and driven out. Be angry and amplify Palestinian voices. Follow Palestinians like Mohammed El Kurd, Linah Al Saafin, Mariam Barghouti and Al Shabaka and share their voices. To quote @/princessmlokhia on twitter, they will demolish these homes if they believe they can do so quietly.

Also found this petition to support Huda, a pakistani student who was harrassed for calling students to learn about Palestine. Feel free to add more

(via strawbebbynya)

thethief1996:

Israel is demolishing Silwan as we speak. Over 1500 people, most of who are children will be homeless in a city ruled by people that don’t allow them to rebuild anywhere. They’re making almost 900 children refugees.

There are 40 bulldozers in Silwan and heavy presence of the IOF.

They started with a butchery and arrested the owner of the shop and his two sons during the demolition. Here’s a video of the IOF brutalizing the Al Rajabi family, owner of the shop.

Keep in mind this proccess might be long, and they might start with shops instead of houses to wait until the media has moved on. That’s 1 out of 17 homes ethnically cleansed.

The IOF is throwing tear gas at the residents so they leave their homes. 13 were injured. While all this happens, the IOF is posting about their delegation arriving to help with the searches in Miami. I have no words to say how hypocrital and how angry that makes me.

There are palestinians right now live blogging their ethnic cleasing, their city being run down and the residents driven out so there’s no cultural trace of them, so they can pretend Palestinians never existed there. It’s brutal to think these people survived one ethnic cleasing in 1948 and they thought they’d be safe in their new homes, only to be invaded and be ethnically cleansed again years later.

It’s a choice to be ignorant right now because several Palestinians in Jerusalem are being brutalized and traumatized to show you this. The best we can do is clog the zionist propaganda so they can’t pretend they’re not destroying homes, as they always do. I don’t want a single zionist to have peace on social media today, and that counts for everything on the BDS list (Ben and Jerry hasn’t used social media in over a month because people were commenting about their settlements and the boycott was stronger than ever, that’s the energy).

Ask for people to speak because zionists are too comfortable, look what they did to Indya Moore just yesterday. They want palestinians to be quiet victims with no one speaking for them

image

[Id: tweet by Mohammed El-Kurd reading “I want to see protests in every damn city in the world against the ethnic cleasing of Palestinians in Jerusalem / end id]

Here’s a constantly updating list of protests around the world. Show your anger and don’t look away, not now and not in one month but until Palestinians can return home in peace.

So recently, I’ve been noticing a lot more people starting to call Disney out on their bullshit, which is really awesome because Goddamn have they just gotten worse and worse as time goes on, but there’s one things I’ve started to notice about these posts that I think warrants a really important addition that needs to be made to all future callouts.

You see in a lot of these cases the consensus is “Fuck Disney” and while that’s very true, in reality your kinda being extremely broad here, as the company is broken up into at least 8 different studios, split into different divisions like ones for the theme parks and resorts, one for the cruise line etc, and has hundreds of thousands of employees under its belt. A lot of times when companies like Amazon and Tesla are called out, people are also making sure to specifically calling out their CEOs and founders, in this case Bezos and Musk, and making it very clear that they are also very much so in the wrong here, rightfully so placing the responsibility onto them.

But I rarely ever see this happen with Disney, and I thinks it’s important we start to change that a bit. Right now Disney as a whole is being helmed by two men, Bob Iger and Bob Chapek, as even though Chapek has officially been named the CEO and Iger was on his way out, he decided to step back into the role for a bit due to the pandemic, so he’s still very much at fault for a lot of this as well. You might know Iger as the man responsible for buying up, well, pretty much every hot ticket property Disney has right now including Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel and as well as plenty of other shady deals. He’s even made it clear that’s he looking to take up a Presidential bid sometime in the next few years which is just Absolutely Yikes. Chapek on the other hand, is so notorious that even die-hard Disney fans more often then not will say they despise him, mainly due to his massive budget cuts in the theme parks that have not only dulled down the overall experience, but more importantly have resulted in thousands of cast members, even before the pandemic, being laid off because he didn’t see them as being “necessary”. His most common nickname is Lex Luther for a reason. And what’s worst, while they both agreed to cutting off their salaries completely at the start of the pandemic, they’ve since gone back to being paid-in full, and they’re still laying off massive amounts of their workers while their parks are being reopened, which I can tell you from personal experience is exactly what Chapek wanted all along.

There’s plenty more about these two guys that I could talk about, but the point here is it’s time to put faces and names to a lot of the shit the company has being trying to get away with over the years, and I wanna keep this post relatively short. So, just please remember, make sure whenever you say “Fuck Disney” that you also make sure to say “Fuck Bob Iger” and “Fuck Bob Chapek”. Make their names just as known as Bezos and Musk for all the wrong reasons, and maybe we can stop another fucking millionaire from having one of the highest seats in the US government.

If you are American, PLEASE SUPPORT THE SSI RESTORATION ACT OF 2021

This new bill has been introduced in both the house and the Senate.

Among other things, it will:

  • Raise the monthly disability income by just over 30 percent - bringing it to poverty level.
  • Remove penalties for recieving financial help from friends and family.
  • Increase the amount of assets a disabled person may have from $2,000 to $10,000 (this hasn’t been updated since 1989)
  • Update outside income restrictions to allow disabled people to receive up to $399 a month without reducing their benefits.
  • REWARD, not penalize, people who want to receive additional income while on social security income.
  • REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT THIS WILL REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN

For those unaware current regulations do a lot to oppress disabled people. In fact marriage equality doesn’t even extend to disbled people who risk having their benefits reduced or outright taken away if they marry someone. This means that in common law states disabled people can’t even live with their significant other or they risk losing their financial independence.

Current regulations mean that if you’re disbled you can’t have so much as one penny over $2,000 to your name. So buying a car and gaining more independence or freedom is largely out of the question for disabled people.

Current regulations penalize social security recipients who receive income from outside sources, even if those sources are reimbursement. Did you get paid to babysit for a few hours? That’s income, and you get your benefits reduced. Did you loan a friend $10 and they pay you back? The government considers that $10 income, and you get your benefits reduced.

These aren’t mere anecdotes - these are all examples of actual things that have happened to disbled people I know, and if you have any disabled friends in your life I’m sure they can tell you the same stories.

If you value marriage equality, if you value financial independence, if you value the rights of disbled people, please PLEASE support this bill! Contact your reps, vote, and make noise! This is a great thing!

I don’t think too many people understand just how much queer POC are being pushed out of conversations and not being considered whenever things that are dangerous to the queer community are being brought up. Like for example, talks about trans men and our experiences with being perceived as a threat (whether within queer spaces or outside of them), desperately need to start including more trans men of color.

I can only speak on my experiences as Black trans man but masculinity and embracing it for me, is dangerous. Yes I love being masculine and appearing as such but being perceived as masc, even if I wasn’t a man, is enough to get me targeted simply because I’m Black. And there’s not a whole lot of conversation around that and how being myself and transitioning the way I want, might end up getting me hurt or harassed.

Another thing is that terfs, usually white women, pushing that trans men are scary once they start transitioning to pass more as a man, is inherently racist. Period. Black men are often perceived that way, and it’s a big reason why we get targeted by the police. To reinforce this idea is to ignore the countless lives of Black men lost due to the police seeing us as a threat, whether it was because we simply had a hoodie on or were carrying non lethal objects in our hands.

Things like this are only two examples of how being Black and a man intersect, this isn’t even getting into the deeper side of how being trans would effect that identity as well.

The intersectionality between being a person of color and trans is way too significant to ignore and I really wish more conversations included how harmful statements from terfs effect LGBTQ+ POC ten fold. Such as how transphobia is inherently linked to racism and effects the deep queer history within communities of color who have recognized multiple genders and multiple queer identities for centuries. And how the gender binary is a product of colonization.

At the end of the day, I’m barely scratching the surface with this post. I highly encourage folks, especially white people, to think twice before posting something about transphobia or queerphobia because I can guarantee that the microaggression or act of violence you’re talking about, effects LGBTQ+ POC differently or more.

It’s honestly about time that we broaden discussions about oppression and include POC in them, whether it be within queer spaces or outside of them. Our lives as people of color effect literally every aspect of our life, and to be excluded from conversations surrounding oppression (or anything for that matter) would only harm us more. Even if we’re cishet, or cis, POC are still affected by things like the gender binary and white feminism (which is linked to the gender binary). For example, cis women of color are often excluded from feminism, denied womanhood, and told their features are ugly due to the fact that they don’t align with white women’s.

If more people knew about what we go through and experience, it’ll get more people to open their eyes and realize just how vital we are to discussions as well as get white people to realize what we face because of our race and queerness.
